Besides being committed to providing you with high-quality content, we take great pride in helping spread the knowledge of Linux and Free Open Source Software (FOSS) because 1) we believe in the philosophy, and 2) as part of our worldwide family, we want to help you advance in your career as much as we can.

This ebook, along with the official Red Hat Enterprise Linux official guides, will help you prepare to take and pass the RHCSA (EX200) and RHCE (EX294) exams.

As you know, both exams are aimed at determining if your knowledge, skills, and ability meet those required of a junior and senior administrator, respectively, of RHEL systems across a wide variety of environments and scenarios.

Becoming RHCSA and RHCE certified can help you show potential employers (and current as well) that you have what it takes to contribute to the success of their IT departments, which ultimately means the overall success of the business.

Additionally, the demand for highly qualified Linux professionals with certifications is continually on the rise. But do not take our word for it – let’s take a look at a few well-known online job board sites where RHCSA and RHCE-related positions have been posted recently.

At the time of this writing (April 2024), here are the number of open positions available in each site (click on the numbers to go to the search page with results):

  4. Hello Tecmint, Ravi!

From my point of view this book is really helpful for those people who want to be certified in Red Hat. In my case I’m training with this e-book as a guide to improve my skills at work and in the future I might quit my jobs and work by myself.

Some of the topics are just a little confusing but I’m very self-taught person, so in this way I solved some of my doubts / issues I’ve had. I’m still training while I waiting the date of my exam that is coming.

    Lots of thanks!!!

Thanks for finding it very useful, yes this book is created specially for RedHat certification purpose only, may we know which topics making you confuse?

      Reply
      • Please! It would be good to add the names of the exact package to be installed in each topic, for example in chapter 7 and chapter 13 there are no the names of the exact package for semanage, cifs, package of firewalld, etc. As I wrote letters above I’m self-taught person and I use to search for the correct information in this case the package name, but it took me a little time.

I’m not complaining about the book because for me is really useful and it is helping me a lot, but it would be great whether you add the names of packages (for specific tool) in each chapter.

        Thanks
        Jose Rios

  5. Being a sysadmin my self wanting to learn even more about Linux this book was a great and i learned a lot of new commands and functions i never knew about.

Its to the point and doesn’t waste you time. Even the explanations are very concise. The only thing i could knock this book for is a pet pev i have with all technical books an thats an explanations on how is this useful, or how can you use it and maybe when not too. Like a recommendation on the use of this command or function.

To take the chapter on LVM as an example its great on explaining everything and introduced me to a new command I’ve never used or seen before (mindblown btw). But an improvement could be why you want to use LVM and not too.

But overall its a steal for the price and wealth of knowledge contained inside.

I am French sysadmin and i bought RedHat RHCSA and RHCE Certification Ebook. I would like to give my opinion on your Ebook:

All information is very useful and well explained. Some parties less explicit: SElinux, iptables for example. I think, it lacks one essential thing : practice in a mini work practice (via a VM).

Maybe added at the folder security, extensible attribute (lsattr, chattr) Afterwards why not linked each chapter to practice video…
    Thank you :)

  21. I bought this book 3 days ago, and i already read it. I work as sysadmin (using RHEL 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7), and i have some other books/videos from different authors. This book is very useful, it’s a practical approach of the RHEL cert syllabus (RHCSA/RHCE). I think it’s a perfect tool of study if you have some experience, if you don’t, just read and learn from other sites (wikis, forums, official documentation) and practice… practice a lot! Enjoy

Both are very well written and point across things that are difficult to understand. I have been reading other books on operating systems and networking and it is like they don’t want you to understand anything – just implement it as they seem fit. I have been very impressed with this book since it answers the questions you have when implementing systems and I am sure it is on the of the best materials that is going to help me pass RHCSA and RHCE later this month.

As the article said, the book guides you through every point and I personally think that it answers any questions that might pop-up in your head. If you are a newbie or just have some basic Linux knowledge, I recommend going from chapter to chapter and testing all the examples on a local computer. Thanks to TecMint I took my LFCS exam and I think anyone who’s taking on the RHEL exams by studying from this book, will do good! Also the training on RHEL site costs $400 while the book is $25. 48. Hi,
Index is very nicely setup covering all the topics which are essential for certification.
Just in the chapter which is available in the book, i thought maybe instead of 1 example per section you can add 2-3 examples covering all the variations of the commands.
Rest everything till i am seeing is great..

  49. I’m already RHCE, with a couple of security related RedHat certifications of expertise. I bought this eBook yesterday, in order to support TecMint team in the work they do for Linux community. I haven’t had a chance to spend too much time with this book yet, but I have to say from what I’ve seen so far, it’s quite well done, and covers pretty much all the important topics necessary for passing the exam. I’ll still need to spend more time with it, but at this moment I feel comfortable to recommend it to anyone preparing for the RHCSA/RHCE certification. And it goes without saying that only reading the book won’t help. You’ll need to spend some hands-on time with it in a lab as well.

    • @Chris,

This book is specially created for both beginners and advance users, but still a beginner must have a little bit knowledge of Linux to understand the some complex things like SELinux, Network Routing and Bonding, Apache, etc..

    • @JL,

Red Hat never endorsed any of the book available on the Internet, but trust me this books is completely written by keeping in mind about RHCSA/RHCE exam objectives and each chapter explains important topics with real world examples. If you want I can send a sample preview of book to your email address to have a look and decide..
